Election Result

Even without a tv, I kept up with internet coverage as well as possible. Right now I feel:
1. Curious/nervous/hopeful about what the Obama time in office will be like.
2. Wishing that my Republican friends could all have the class that McCain did in his concession. Right now I feel like another Civil War could break out among people I know, alone! It is sad that we are more often the Divided States than the United States.
3. Grateful that my hope is in Christ, not a politician.

However, for some perspective, I borrowed this from Jeremy Cowart; this isPretty cool.

When I felt exhileration during the election returns and hope this morning, I realized how hopeless and angry I've felt over the past 8 yrs of the least competent Administration in my lifetime. I believe that Obama's speech will long be regarded as one of the Great Speeches. I got chills and tears as I listened to him. Our country and other countries have been hungering for the US to restore stability and respect. I'm hopeful.

Casey...I soooooo resonate with your #2 comment! I have had such a hard time with the political discussions among Christians that I know. It finally got to the point where I didn't engage in any sort of discussions at all...which is too bad, because we should be able to maturely talk about these things!

I just always appreciate your perspective on your refreshing blog!

I couldn't agree with you more. It is amazing to me how this whole election has brought out the "ugly side" in so many people...I can't help but think of two words, Love and Peace...seems like we could use more of that.

Hi Casey, still can't figure out the blog thing, sorry, but I met a GOP blogger yesterday on Lummi Island, he's GOP PCO, and I was with my Democrat friend who his counterpart. This man suggested we have a fundraiser softball game between the two parties for the Boys & Girls Club, which I thought was a great idea. In our neck of the woods in Ferndale, we keep emphasizing we're all neighbors in the end. But as co-coordinator for the Staging/Get out the Vote, I will say we worked harder for Obama, and it was exhausting but rewarding. And I had a great discussion with a San Diego border patrol visiting, who is Latino, about Obama and this man's more "traditional" beliefs. We spoke of Obama's role model as husband, and how inspirational his family life is to us. I'm excited, but as you said, our hope is in Christ not in politicians, but more importantly, my hope is in Christians living their faith in a way that impacts the world in a positive way. I think Obama will be a good influence in the secular realm. As for me, I enjoy connecting the two, influencing the world (and Ferndale) with a positive spirit that comes from my faith values. Happy settling in to your home, despite all the initial woes! Peace and Love, Debi CB
